Fine. No Jacket. 36pp of introductory text with some colour illustrations and followed by 435 full page superb colour plates, some double page, being reproductions from Audubons paintings. Colour frontispeice plate of Audubon. The plates are organised phylo-genetically from chapter I-divers of lakes, and bays to chapter XI-flockers and songbirds. At the start of each chapter there is a small b/w image of the full page colour illustrations with supportive and referencing text about the bird and art. Bound in full green leather with a couple of gilt embossed owls to the front board and gilt embossed decorative edging and lettering between the 5 bands on the spine. Cloth page divider attached at the head of the spine. There is slight thumbing to the half title page and a 5cm scratch to the same page. What appears to be a printer's flaw has led to the slightest of rubbing to the the hinge corner of the frontispiece plate. The book is fresh, clean and tight. A near fine, well preserved copy of this beautiful publication.
