Everything changes. Our daughter born 1968 loved this. She and I wondered if it was possible to encourage 9 year old to unglue from "Harry Potter." Read a book with a female at the lead. Daughter read to her. Best outcome was that they shared it. Have yet to learn if granddaughter as pleased as her mother.

Are You There God? It's me Margaret
What a lovely book for a young girl to read and learn that she too can have God as a personal confidant.

Rite of Passage
A great book that was passed around in my school in about grade five. It's a rite of passage. It's all about discovering the world around you, trying to understand religion and making sense of the changes in your body. It is THE book to read about menstruation. It's funny and insightful. When I read it as a young girl, I was sure it had been written by someone my age, because it was so in tune with young girls and their conflicting emotions.

Great read then and now
Wow. I just read this book with my fifth grade daughter. I remember loving this book when I was in fifth grade. While some of the content of the book is 'dated' the issues still ring true for girls today. I'm glad I had the chance to read and re-read this book at different stages in life.
Publishers Weekly, 2002-03-04 Judy Blume's body of work returns to her original editor, Richard Jackson, with the rerelease of four classics in hardcover. An African-American family moves to all-white Grove Street in Iggie's House, to be released in April. The author's breakthrough title, Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret, about 11-year old Margaret Simon's struggles with puberty and religion, is now available in hardcover as well as in a Spanish-language edition, Estas ahi Dios? Soy yo, Margaret. Two additional titles came out last season: Blubber takes on preteen teasing; and It's Not the End of the World explores the effects of divorce. (c) Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved
