Robinson, or as he much preferred, Emanual Goldenberg. The "G." remained standing for Goldenberg in defiance of Hollywood and the great US public's norms. He was a man of sublime talent, and a great collector of serious art, although his first buy was a two dollar picture of a cow; stolen later by burglars, under the impression that anything he owned was worth stealing. 344 pp. including index. Includes news article about Robinson from "Dear Abby" laid in.
Very Good in Very Good dust jacket. This specific hardback book is in very good condition with some minor wear to the cover or edges and corners but with a hard board cover that has a tight binding. The pages are clean, crisp, unmarked and uncreased but do have some foxing to the page edges. The dust jacket is in very good condition with some cover or edge wear. A Romanian-born U.S. film actor, he was raised in New York City's Lower East Side and won a scholarship to the American Academy of Dramatic Art. He was largely a stage actor until the advent of sound movies. He won fame playing a gangster boss in Little Caesar (1931). Considered to be short and chubby, with heavy features and a gruff voice, Robinson was content that his career would consist of rough-and-tumble roles and character parts. His later films include Barbary Coast (1935), Double Indemnity (1944), The Woman in the Window (1944), Scarlet Street (1945), All My Sons (1948), Key Largo (1948), and The Cincinnati Kid (1965). In 1973 he was posthumously awarded an honorary Academy Award. In his autobiography, "All My Yesterdays", Robinson credited Cecil B. An excellent autobiography of a man of many parts.
