Very Good in Good+ jacket. 8vo, 270p, index. Nice dark blue hardcover has bright gilt spine lettering. Clean pages--pages are those nice, thick ones--sound binding. Dust jacket quite good, with historic photograph. Frontispiece is historic photo of F. C. Selous. Previous owner's small, tasteful, book plate inside front cover; bright green endpapers. Author/famous hunter Denis Lyell corresponded with all the greats of African hunting: Stigand, Pease, Cunninghame, Colonel Stevenson-Hamilton, and others. Their private letters to Lyell create an indelible, honest impression of life in the bush that words written for publication cannot--casual descriptions of immense danger, discussion of guns & ammunition, and fascinating, sometimes humorous safari tales. Readable, intriguing. A nice copy.
