Limited edition of 750 copies. Cloth, small 4to, 248 x 186 mm, xviii, 285 pp, two line drawings, 12 collotype plates and 28 reproductions of title pages. Approximately 1, 000 entries. According to the reviewer for The Observer, this is "as good as any bibliography could hope to be". Substantially enlarged from the second edition of 1932, with the following principal changes: the Bibliographical Prefaces to the bibliographies of each of Donne's works have been rewritten, incorporating a substantial amount of new information; the holdings of many more libraries than before have been recorded, covering a variety of institutions in Great Britain and America; the listings of 'Biography and Criticism' have been greatly expanded with the number of 17th century references to Donne very much increased and the ever growing interest in Donne's works reflected in "the enormously swollen list that has accumulated since 1900"; also much enlarged, from 61 titles known in 1932 to nearly 200, is the section listing the titles and provenance of books from Donne's library; finally the number of line-blocks reproducing title-pages has been increased and the illustrations in collotype varied, and their number increased from 8 to 12. Other material includes appendices providing coverage of works by Donne's son, John Donne, D.C.L.; Works by John Done; Books dedicated to Donne; and an Iconography. With a general index and a list of printers and publishers.
