Welcome to the real Fight Club. Already a huge success in the US, this is a raw, bone-crunching memoir of one man's adventures in fighting; a behind the scenes look at a dangerous, addictive world.Sam Sheridan, a university graduate and former US Merchant Marine, always had a taste for adventure. So when he found himself in Australia, loaded with cash and intent on spending it all, he realised that he could finally indulge a long-treasured obsession of his: fighting. Driven by a desire to know what only a fighter can - about fear and violence, about the dark side of being a man - he began training with the best of the best. Within a year, he stepped through the ropes for a professional bout against a Japanese Karate champion. Far from putting him off, he was hooked, and set out on an epic journey into the world of fighting. "A Fighter's Heart" is the chronicle of Sheridan's quest.

Wonderful journey into the world of fighting. Very descriptive writing that really puts you in the cage/ring with Sam. The book is well written and some nonfighting parts are great travel stories. The book deals with Sam's long and arduous life of learning to be a fighter, both mental and physical aspects are covered. I'd recommend this book for anybody that has every thought that they had "what it takes" to step into a ring or cage or anybody that wants to learn about the deeper motivation/aspects of fighting. GREAT read and well worth the money.

Stellar performance Mr. Sheridan!!!
i highly recommend this book to anyone with even a little interest in martial arts or a young adult who doesn't know what to do with their life. if i read this 10 years ago i would have probably done the same. to think i was debating joing the merchant marines myself. the book gave many true insights & Sam was really good at making you feel as if you were traveling around with him. i feel i have grown as a fighter from just reading this book & it has also given me new areas to research. thanks again Sam
